After performing numerous prior projects for the client, Bethlehem was awarded the project to demolish a large portion of fire destroyed building and rebuild a new and more efficiently designed apple and cherry packing operation. The new facility met modern food safety requirements as well as improved process and product flow.

The building was designed to enclose and facilitate the flows of the two new packing lines as efficiently as possible. A large precast mezzanine was constructed down the middle to accommodate boxes and packing material for both lines. Insulated sandwich panels were used at the exterior of the building to provide the R-value required but also have durable concrete surface on both the inside and outside of the wall. The exterior finish received a sandblast treatment and included architectural reveals to dress up the exterior in a simple and cost-efficient manner. A new office complex was built into the project that also offered brand new employee restrooms and break areas.

“Thanks to Bethlehem, within 11 months of the fire, we had our entire building rebuilt, our equipment installed, and our lines running.”
